Poor Retention and Adhesives

Knowledge is power, and as an artist, it is our job to do a process of elimination and to learn about all things relating to retention. So is the problem of lash loss related to your adhesive, or, is it some other issue?

⁠A few of the things that can go wrong with adhesives and poor retention:

• Not burping! Fresh glue passing through old glue = poor retention.⁠
• Forgetting to write down the date you open your bottle, the adhesive may be old.
• You work in a hair salon and those ingredients, ammonia and acrylic liquids, can react with & degrade cyanoacrylate.
• Not shaking your adhesive well, or dispensing new glue dots frequently enough.
• Your lash glue is sitting directly under your lash light
• Leaving your glue uncapped, letting air in, and drying it out.⁠

While this list may not cover all of the reasons for lash loss, a few more key factors in poor retention might also include:

• Not prepping correctly (i.e. lash bath, primer), or underneath the lash.
• Your fan base is too thick for the natural lash.
• You’re putting the wrong curl on the natural lash.
• You think the dry time is perfect for your speed but you lost the lash while isolating and it’s been 5 seconds instead of 1 which is your glue dry time.
