7 common lash adhesive mistakes to avoid for longer lasting lash retention...

For lash artists, avoiding mistakes with lash adhesive is key to achieving flawless extensions, happy clients, and better retention—especially during the busy holiday rush!  Here are the top seven adhesive errors to watch out for and tips on how to avoid them:

1. Not Shaking the Adhesive Bottle Properly

Lash adhesive ingredients tend to separate and settle at the bottom. Before each use, give the bottle a thorough shake to mix it evenly, ensuring consistent bonding strength for each application.

2. Ignoring Optimal Humidity and Temperature

Adhesive performance is sensitive to your environment. If your humidity is too high, the adhesive may cure too quickly, leading to weak bonds. If it’s too low, curing can slow down, compromising retention. Use a hygrometer to monitor humidity and adjust with humidifiers or dehumidifiers to create the perfect setting.

3. Applying Too Much or Too Little Adhesive

Less is more! Applying too much adhesive can create clumps and affect the look, while too little won’t hold. Find the right balance by dipping only the bottom third of the extension into the adhesive, allowing just enough to form a secure bond.

4. Not Refreshing the Glue Drop Often Enough

Adhesive starts curing once exposed to air, which can compromise retention if not refreshed regularly. Change your glue drop every 20-30 minutes to ensure it stays fresh and effective.

5. Over-Manipulating the Lashes

Once the extension has adhesive, avoid excessive adjusting, as this can weaken the bond. Dip, attach, and let it set—less handling results in a stronger hold.

6. Applying Lashes When Adhesive Has Begun to Dry

If adhesive dries on the extension before it’s applied, it won't form a strong bond. Work quickly after dipping, and don’t wait too long, to ensure maximum retention.

7. Forgetting to Adjust for Seasonal Changes

Temperature and humidity fluctuate seasonally, affecting adhesive curing times. For instance, during humid summer months or dry winters, you may need to adjust your glue, technique, or environment to maintain consistent retention.

With these tips, you can avoid the most common adhesive mistakes and keep your lash game strong. Perfecting these details will enhance your results, client satisfaction, and efficiency just in time for the holiday season!
